NO MORE HIDING BEHIND NIGERIA’S NATIONAL NUMBERS. I think it is time for the @NBS_Nigeria to lead a subnational statistical revolution. Nigeria cannot continue to discuss development almost exclusively through national averages when the country is a federation of 36 states, the FCT and 774 local governments, each with vastly different economic structures, resources and governance outcomes. From the beginning I disagreed with the choice of Dele Alake as minister (Solid minerals) because he is a media person who knows next to nothing about mining. However today, he knows more about mining than myself; he talks like a mining engineer. He's succeeding as a minister because he learnt a lot from his boss (Tinubu), shared in his visions and directions. In Q2 2025, total capital importation into Nigeria stood at US$5,120.50 million, higher than US$2,604.50 million recorded in Q2 2024, indicating an increase of 96.60%. In comparison to the preceding quarter, capital importation decreased by 9.24% from US$5,642.07 million in Q1 2025. NBS Nigeria @NBS_Nigeria The Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined to 127.4 in January 2026, reflecting a 3.8 point decrease from the preceding month (131.2). In January 2026, the Headline inflation rate eased to 15.10%, down from 15.15% in December 2025. On a month-on-month basis, the Headline inflation rate in January 2026 was -2.88%, which was 3.42% lower than the rate recorded in December 2025 (0.54%). Nigeria records $6.1bn all-time highest non-oil exports in 2025. An increase of 11.5% over 2024 ($5.46bn). Cocoa and it's derivatives accounted for almost $2bn of that export. @officialabat has said the next phase of our reforms will be execution and implementation focused and irrigation/agriculture will play a big part of that. BREAKING: Nigeria's inflation rate now 15% — first increase in eight months The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says Nigeria’s headline inflation rate rose to 15.15 percent in December 2025. The NBS announced the rate in its latest consumer price index (CPI) report, released on Thursday. GOOD NEWS! The European Union (EU) has removed Nigeria from its list of “High-Risk Third Country Jurisdictions. This development is the latest vote of confidence in the FG’s efforts to combat money laundering and clean up the Nigeria’s finance risk profile. It also follows the removal of the country from the FATF Grey list last October and is a testament to the success of the various reforms embarked upon by President Tinubu-led administration since emergence in May 2023.
