Recovery: EFCC Hands Over N80m to Businessman The Ag. Zonal Director, Benin Zonal Directorate, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad on Wednesday September 24, 2026 handed over a draft of N80 million to Ifeanyi Innocent Madueke, being money recovered by operatives of the Commission from Austine Muanya Okafor, who allegedly sold landed property to Madueke without delivering the property to him. Madueke, 42-year-old business man had purchased 146 acres of land in the sum N232,800,000.00 from Okafor at a community in Delta State but all efforts to take ownership of the land became impossible When Madueke could not take possession of the said property, he approached Okafor for the refund of his money but met a brick wall. He consequently petitioned the Commission. Investigation by the Commission showed that Madueke transferred the money to the suspects in three tranches. Presenting the draft, Ag Zonal Director, noted that the Commission will continue to discharge its duties professionally and with utmost integrity and that fraudsters will never be allowed to reap where they did not sow. Receiving the draft of N80 million recovered, Madueke expressed his gratitude to the EFCC, noting that he had almost lost hope before he petitioned the Commission. “I am grateful to the Commission for what they have done. I had lost hope before I came to EFCC. I thank the management and staff for the good work they are doing.”
