𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 (𝗘𝗠𝗧) 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 I chaired the Economic Management Team meeting earlier this week, where we approved the establishment of a committee to harmonise macroeconomic assumptions and projections used for economic planning across our fiscal and monetary institutions. This is designed to address a long-standing gap that has contributed to budget under-performance, and a key step toward stronger policy coordination and credible budget implementation. We also reviewed the state of the economy: 4.43% real GDP growth in Q2 2026, about 17% growth in H1 2026 in US dollar terms, external reserves above $54 billion, an 18-year high, and Nigeria's reclassification to Frontier Market status by FTSE Russell among other major developments. The Team critically assessed agriculture's role in our national development and the $1 trillion economy ambition. We also reviewed progress on hosting two international trade and investment events - CANEX 2026 and IATF 2027. These milestones reflect our continued commitment to strengthening economic management, driving sustainable growth, attracting investment, and positioning Nigeria for greater competitiveness on the global stage.
