NNPC BRANDED TRUCK IN NDLEA NET: COMPANY DENIES OWNERSHIP, BACKS FULL PROBE The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has distanced itself from a truck intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Ondo State, allegedly carrying over two tonnes of cannabis concealed in a hidden compartment. A statement by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Limited, says the vehicle, marked with the NNPC logo and registration number MKA 960 XC, is not part of its fleet or that of any authorised dealer. The corporation notes that checks showed that the logo on the vehicle does not match its current branding, while the truck is also absent from its asset database. NNPC adds that it is liaising with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners to trace how its old branding ended up on the truck. The company further pledges full cooperation with security agencies, including possible legal action against those responsible for the unauthorised use of its identity.
