BREAKING🚨: Governor @DapoAbiodunCON has signed a $7billion MoU with global port giant DP World MEA FZE for the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the 10,000 hectare Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone. 🌊🚢 The signing was witnessed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR @officialABAT in Paris, France. About the Gateway Deep Sea Port & Blue Marine SEZ: — Over $7 billion in initial investment is expected to come into the project. — DP World MEA FZE, one of the world's biggest port and logistics operators and the No. 1 port operator globally by revenue in 2025, is the strategic partner for the project. — The Gateway Deep Sea Port will be located in Ogun Waterside, along the Ogun State stretch of the Lagos—Calabar Coastal Highway. — The Ogun section of the coastal highway provides 28km of strategic access to the port, connecting it to the hinterland, reducing logistics costs and helping decongest Lagos. — The port is projected to have an 18 metre draft and a 4km berth, making it capable of handling some of the largest vessels in the world. — Upon completion, it is projected to be among the deepest and longest ports in Africa. — The port will be integrated with a 10,000 hectare Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, creating an ecosystem for manufacturing, logistics, maritime services, technology and exports. — The project is expected to create over 50,000 direct jobs, with many more indirect jobs, while stimulating SMEs and expanding supply chains. — It will strengthen Nigeria's export capacity, attract foreign direct investment and create opportunities across manufacturing, logistics, maritime services and other sectors. — The project will form part of Ogun's emerging multimodal infrastructure network, connecting the Deep Sea Port to the Gateway International Airport, dry ports, the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway and other road infrastructure. For Ogun East, Ogun State and the wider National Economy, this creates a new maritime and industrial corridor around Ogun Waterside. This is a major infrastructure project with implications far beyond the port itself. Vision + Infrastructure + Investment = Economic Growth. 🌊🚢 This is LEGACY.
