Today, I was at The Platform’s Independence Day Edition for a town hall with young Lagosians, particularly members of the Gen Z and millennial generations. I shared my thoughts from the perspective of someone who has been directly involved in the work of governing this state, because Lagos requires practical solutions, not sentiments. During our conversation, we tackled some of the biggest issues facing our state, starting with waste management. I shared where we currently stand and where we are heading. Right now, we are transforming sites like Olusosun and Solus in Alimosho by building dedicated Transfer Loading Stations and Materials Recovery facilities. We also have over 150 new compactor trucks arriving to strengthen daily collection. Over in Agbowa, a private partner is setting up a facility designed to process more than 5,000 metric tonnes of waste daily. I also talked about continuity. Government works best when each administration builds on the achievements of the last. My prayer for Lagos has always been that every incoming leader does even better for our people than the one before. That is why Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and I remain fully committed to completing flagship infrastructure like the Blue and Red Line Rail projects and the Omi Eko waterways initiative. At the same time, maintaining continuity never stops us from bringing fresh, innovative ideas to the table, provided they directly improve the lives of Lagosians. Thank you to everyone who tuned in, asked tough questions and joined the conversation today. Your energy keeps us grounded and focused on the work ahead.
