THIERRY HENRY ON JUDE BELLINGHAM AND FEDERICO VALVERDE: REAL MADRID DIDN'T NEED ARDA GÜLER TO PRODUCE A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MASTERCLASS! 👀 There is something particularly impressive about what Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde brought to Real Madrid against AEK Athens. For all the discussions surrounding Arda Güler's importance to this team, Madrid demonstrated that they have other players capable of taking responsibility, controlling the tempo and deciding the biggest moments without the Turkish playmaker. Bellingham was outstanding. His movement between the lines, ability to receive under pressure, physical presence and intelligence in the final third were exactly what you expect from an elite midfielder. His outrageous backheel finish was another reminder of the quality he possesses. This is the Bellingham Real Madrid paid so much attention to signing. A midfielder who can dictate the game, break defensive lines, arrive in the box and deliver when the pressure is at its highest. And then there is Federico Valverde. What more can you say about this man? The Uruguayan is practically an entire midfield department on his own. His work rate, intensity, defensive contribution, tactical intelligence and ability to cover almost every blade of grass make him one of the most valuable players in this squad. He came off the bench and delivered the decisive moment with a stunning stoppage-time winner. That is the mentality of a player who understands what wearing the Real Madrid shirt demands. The interesting part is that Madrid managed to get such an influential performance from their midfield despite Arda Güler and Aurélien Tchouaméni being rested. And this should tell you something about the squad's depth. Arda is undoubtedly a talented player and has been one of Madrid's most creative outlets this season. However, nobody should confuse being an important player with being an irreplaceable one. Against AEK, Bellingham stepped up, Valverde delivered, and Madrid found another way to win. That is what separates elite teams from ordinary teams. You cannot depend on one individual to provide creativity, control and solutions every single time. When one player is unavailable, somebody else must take responsibility. With Kylian Mbappé continuing to deliver goals, Vinícius Júnior providing another attacking dimension and Bellingham becoming increasingly influential, Mourinho has several different ways to hurt opponents. The 3-2 comeback victory was not perfect, and Madrid still have defensive issues to address, but their mentality deserves credit. Coming from behind twice in a difficult Champions League away fixture and finding a winner in stoppage time is never straightforward. #UCL #RealMadrid #Bellingham #Valverde #HalaMadrid #ChampionsLeague #Madridistas #FootballTwitter #FootballX #FootballNews
